Frequently asked questions.
Customers are always asking me questions either pre or post booking. Below are answers to some of those. If you have a a specific enquiry, please call, email or use the contact form on the site.
Do I need to fast?
Fasting is required only for certain tests (e.g., lipids, fasting glucose, insulin, some hormone panels). Most general health, hormone, and wellness panels do not require fasting. If fasting is needed, it’s typically 8–12 hours, water allowed.
Can I take my medications?
Most routine medications can be taken as normal. However, some tests are affected by:
Thyroid medication
Biotin supplements
Steroids
Hormone therapies Clients should check specific instructions for their panel..
Should I stop supplements?
Supplements like biotin, vitamin D, creatine, and multivitamins can skew certain markers. General rule: Stop non-essential supplements 48–72 hours before testing, unless clinically required.
How should I prepare? And will it hurt?
Stay hydrated (improves venous access).
Avoid heavy exercise 24 hours before certain hormone or inflammation tests.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
Most people feel a quick scratch or pressure. Discomfort lasts only a few seconds. Experienced phlebotomy minimises pain and bruising.
Continued.
Important questions I am asked often below.
How are my results delivered?
Emailed to you within 24 to 48 hours.
When should I check my hormones?
Timing matters:
Men: morning (7–10am) for testosterone
Women: depends on cycle phase (e.g., day 3 for baseline, day 21 for progesterone)
Does training affect results?
Yes — intense training elevates CK, cortisol, inflammation markers. Athletes should avoid heavy training 24 hours before testing unless intentionally measuring post‑training response.
What if I get a bruise?
Bruising can occur if pressure wasn’t applied long enough. Apply a cold compress for 10 minutes. It resolves within a few days.
